Let me tell you how I got started on my journey.

I find that if I look back on my life, I have always been open to many different things and ideas.  But it was not until I turned 43 that my life took a major turn.  I for the most part like most men, was driven by my career up until my birthday.  After that, I found that my job was not so important to me anymore and that the number one thing for me was my spiritual journey.

The date was April 3, 2009 and I just heard on the radio a women called Mary Occhino.  She was on Sirius satellite radio and did a show M-F (7am-10am EST) called "Angels On Call".  She is a Psychic.  Not only does she care about people, but there is no limit to her heart.  What really got me excited about her show was the fact that she had a part of her show called rapid fire where she takes one call every 20 seconds and does one reading.  Tons of people called in and gave her feedback on all the readings that she had done for them in the past and how it became true.  These are called validations.

Being the type of person that I am, I like to do my research, so I went to the Internet and searched for her name to find anything related to fraud about her.  I found nothing bad about her.  What I did find was very interesting.  I found a web site called timmysgift.org this web site was created by a father who had lost his son at a very young age.  This father then went out and spent tons of money seeing lots of psychics around the world to make contact with his baby boy.  His web site has a web page that has a listing of some of the best psychics that he worked with and what it is like to do a reading with these key people.  I have included his web site link on my web site as he has a lot of great resources on his web site.

I researched all the people that he had listed on his site and found one that I wanted to work with.  I had decided to spend the money to do a phone reading with this person.  Her name was Jackie Lopez and her web site is blendingtwoworlds.com. During the reading she told me that 1) I would not be happy until I started my owe business and stopped working for other people, and 2) that I was very psychic myself.  I had no idea what she was talking about, but after much research found some things to read to learn more.  That is the reason why I created this web site, I wanted to give people a site that allows you to find things easier.

Once the reading with Jackie was done, I have to say that is when the true book reading started.  I started to read one book after the next.  This is funny, as I am a true movie person and have never loved to read.  Well long story short, in two months, I completed 37 books.  Part of that reading list is listed, on the web site.

After the reading was done, I found my first development circle and started to sign up for every workshop that I could find.  After doing a bunch of workshops over months, I asked the lead of the group if I could join the closed development circle.  This is a group, where a person can work in a group of supporting people to move forward with your gifts.  I am still moving forward and learning more each day.

What you will find on your journey is if something is meant to be, things will unfold as you go.  If it is not meant to be, you will hit many walls.  This could be said to be true about how life works also.

Enjoy your journey.   I am!!!  As always, remember that each persons journey in life is their own.  Do not try to force people to be on yours.   Enjoy life and remember that your words create the future so be careful of what you say and think.

This is the first of our new series called Mind Body Spirit; where we will discuss spiritual concepts that will help us live our lives more fully. Today's topic is Specialness. The dangers of making a person, place or thing "Special" and how it keeps us separated from self and source.

Aleka Thorvalson is our Teacher for this part of the journey, so I wanted to introduce her to you through her own words...

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated about the dance between what we believe, think, and feel, and how that dance manifests in our body and our lives. I have made it a life-long quest to learn all I can about this choreography. First focusing on the mystery of the physical body, I received a degree in Nutritional Counseling, Certification in Dynamic Food Psychology, Mind/Body Nutrition, and Life Strategies Coaching, as well as Massage Therapy.  Working as the lead Nutritional Counselor at Ai Pono Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Treatment Center in Maui, Hawaii, I quickly learned that we are vastly more than mere physicality.  My own recovery process years earlier first illuminated this point, but now I was able to grasp and appreciate the healing process with a new understanding. I was fascinated and inspired by the honesty, courage, and wisdom I saw as clients went through their own recovery journeys. The stories. The thoughts. The shame. The fears, pain, and choices. It was clear that healing and disease depended on something other than physicality alone. I witnessed that our bodies are, in fact, reflections and houses for our soul. In actuality, we are spiritual/energetic beings having and reacting to the energy of human experience.  I realized an important truth; that when we change the way we look at our lives, when we change the energy in our minds, our life will also change. Real change happens from the inside out.

So what is it I do? I see our body and our life as our greatest teacher. I believe the choices, patterns, diseases, hurts, upsets, habits, and issues we face are, in fact, the paths inward leading to our true purpose and best selves. In form I am a certified Dynamic Food Psychology Coach, a Mind/Body Nutritional, and Life Strategies Coach. I am a Neuromuscular  Massage Therapist,  and a Counseling Astrologer. My passion is uniting this world of form with the more subtle one of energy dynamics, intuition, and soul work. In that sense, it is my goal to be a truly holistic life coach – mind, body, and spirit. It is my intention to illuminate an awareness, a greater understanding, a path of truth, to help you on a journey of discovery, healing, and transformation. In truth, ever the seeker, I am walking my own path of exploration and evolution and hope to never stop learning from all the teachers in my life.

JoAnne Dodgson, Ed.D. is a healer, author and teacher of Ka Ta See, a unique Peruvian tradition of the Eastern Andes.

With a doctorate in counseling psychology and an eleven-year shamanic apprenticeship, JoAnne brings diverse knowledge and rich experience to her offerings of spiritual counseling, traditional energy healing, workshops and ceremonial gatherings.

JoAnne has provided counseling in diverse settings such as college counseling centers, community agencies, women’s centers, and private practice as a licensed psychologist.  She specialized in healing related to trauma.  She served as director of a women’s shelter program, as an outreach educator and coordinator of community response to interpersonal violence on two university campuses.  As a Hospice volunteer, she has provided support around the passage of death and dying with individuals and their caregivers.

Since 2000, JoAnne has been pursuing an extensive shamanic apprenticeship in Ka Ta See, an ancient sacred way of life from the Eastern Andes. While learning and living the Peruvian medicine ways, JoAnne Dodgson has received permission to share the teachings, give initiation ceremonies, offer traditional energy healings, and guide spirit journeys.
